Terms & Refund Policy
1. Who we are
BuildVIN ("we", "us") is operated by Darbaz AS, registered in Norway. You can reach us any time at sale@buildvin.com.
2. What we provide
BuildVIN provides a factory equipment list (build sheet) for a vehicle, decoded from its VIN. The report is a digital product delivered electronically to the email address you provide — usually within minutes of payment, and in all cases normally within 24 hours. It is supplied as two PDF files (a branded version and a printer-friendly version).
What your report includes depends on your vehicle. Every report contains the factory equipment/feature list and core vehicle data that the manufacturer's own data holds for your VIN. Some vehicles also carry short factory option/PR codes (e.g. the VW/Audi/SEAT/Škoda PR codes). These are included where the manufacturer's catalogue provides them, and are not available for every vehicle — some makes, models and model years do not carry them. When a vehicle's data does not include option/PR codes, the report shows the complete equipment list without them. A report delivered from the manufacturer's data is complete as delivered — the absence of option/PR codes, or of any individual data point the manufacturer does not hold for your vehicle, does not make it incomplete and is not a basis for a refund. Our guarantee applies only where we are unable to produce an equipment list for your VIN at all.
3. Pricing & payment
Prices are shown at checkout in your local currency and include any applicable taxes. All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
4. Delivery & refunds
✓ No-risk guarantee: if we cannot produce the factory equipment list for your VIN, we tell you and refund your payment in full. This guarantee covers our ability to produce and deliver your report — it is not a satisfaction guarantee, and it does not apply to disagreements about individual data points on a report that has been delivered.
- Instant digital delivery. Your report is generated on demand and emailed to you immediately after payment.
- Completed reports are non-refundable. Because each report is produced specifically for your VIN and delivered to you straight away as a digital product, a report that has been successfully generated and delivered cannot be refunded.
- We couldn't find your data? If the factory data isn't available for your vehicle, you are refunded in full — you never pay for a report we can't deliver.
- Entered the wrong VIN? Contact us at sale@buildvin.com as soon as possible and we'll do our best to help.
- Genuine data points are corrected, not refunded. If you believe a specific detail in a delivered report is inaccurate, contact us and we will review it against the manufacturer data and correct it free of charge where warranted. Because the report has already been produced and delivered for your VIN, an individual data query is resolved by correction rather than refund.
- Immediate delivery & right of withdrawal. By placing your order you expressly request immediate delivery of a digital product and acknowledge that, once the report has been generated and delivered, any statutory right of withdrawal or “cooling-off” period no longer applies.
- Fair use. Attempting to obtain a refund in bad faith, filing a chargeback for a report that was delivered, or otherwise misusing the service may result in future orders being declined and access to the service being restricted.
5. Accuracy of information
Equipment lists are compiled from manufacturer and official vehicle data sources. We take care to deliver accurate information, but reports are provided for informational purposes and on an "as is" basis. If you identify a genuine discrepancy, contact us and we will review it and correct the report where warranted; corrections are provided in place of refunds. For decisions where exact specification matters, please confirm critical details with the manufacturer or an authorised dealer.
6. Acceptable use
You agree to use BuildVIN only for lawful purposes and to enter VINs for vehicles you have a legitimate reason to look up. You may not resell, scrape, or systematically extract our service without our written permission.
7. Privacy
We collect only what we need to deliver your report and run the service — your VIN, your email address, and payment confirmation from Stripe. We don't sell your personal data. Questions about your data? Email sale@buildvin.com.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Norway. Nothing in this policy limits any mandatory statutory rights you may have as a consumer under applicable law.
